'General Hospital' says 'racism has no place' after Tabyana Ali speaks out on online harassment
View Date:2024-12-24 00:39:31
"General Hospital" is speaking out after one of its stars revealed she's been the subject of racial harassment online.
Tabyana Ali, who plays Trina Robinson on the ABC soap opera, opened up in a series of X posts about the "hate" she's received from social media users. "To anyone that hates me, that's absolutely fine. I don't know you and you don't me, but regardless I'm sending you peace, safety and prosperity," Ali wrote June 9.
"General Hospital" seemingly addressed Ali's revelation in a statement on the show’s social media pages. The actress’s name was not mentioned in the post shared on Tuesday.
"'General Hospital' does not tolerate hatred or bigotry of any kind," the statement read. "Racism has no place in Port Charles. #GH is for everyone."
Ali responded with enthusiasm to the show’s statement. "I appreciate you so much ABC/GH," she wrote on X.

'General Hospital' star Tabyana Ali slams online 'hate' she's received
Earlier this month, Ali took to X to address the alleged harassment she’s faced on social media.
"We cannot be feeding into people’s hate. We cannot be giving it back," Ali wrote at the time. "We cannot stoop to rude/racist people's level. It doesn't help. We are fighting too many wars as it is."
Addressing her detractors directly, Ali continued: "I'm sorry that this is the way you feel like you have to be seen. I'm sorry that life isn't happening how you want. But if you found something you loved to do other than hurting people, you would never have the energy to say what you've been saying to people ONLINE!"

Ali joined the cast of "General Hospital" in 2022. Her other roles include guest appearances on the series "New Girl," "Shimmer and Shine" and "The Big Show Show," according to Ali’s IMDb page.
"I promise life is more beautiful and peaceful and full when you give people and yourself LOVE," Ali concluded. "I pray you don't meet God and find yourself disappointed when he shows you the life you could've had, if all you had to do was stop giving out that type of energy and just went OUTSIDE!"
